He has worked his whole working life in the music business working for numerous educational establishments such as Access to music and Trafford college. Unlike a lot of private music teachers Neil is not only a qualified musician but a qualified teacher with a PGCE.
He set up Maunder's school of popular music in 2008 and it has continued to grow at a fast rate.
Neil has a lot of professional experience as a guitarist with shows such as Dangerous live - The Michael Jackson tribute show, which featured legendary bassist Barry Johnson from the sweet sensations.
He has played/toured with original bands such as the late 90's rock band 'The Insane pipers', playing a string of sold out gigs in Manchester venues such as the Band on the wall.
"Every student I have ever taught has been different and therefore needs their own unique approach. I don't believe in using one method or book for everyone. Thats very lazy teaching. Every student has their own strengths and weaknesses and needs there own unique resources. That's why I've spent years building up resources for students. Enjoyment is as important as progression." Neil Maunder
His students include Martin Finnagan (the Rainband), Dave Johnson (session bassist with the sugar babes and many major pop acts).
He is an enthusiastic teacher with a huge client base of all ages. Neil has students that have continued lessons with him for many years. Excellent with beginner, intermediate and advanced players.
